I had the pleasure of attending Steve's spoon carving workshop a couple of weekends ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is something I wanted to do for a while and am glad I did it through Axe and Paddle. He is knowledgeable and wants to share this with you, making sure throughout that you are comfortable with the tools and that your spoon carving is going well!. Always on hand for any questions and shares his passion for his craft with passion.
It was joy to attend and carve my very own spoon, I am now looking at carving a paddle on his two day workshop! Kirsty was very helpful via email and answered any queries I had. All in all a great day - Great workshop, location and hospitality :) If you've been thinking of carving a spoon or anything else with Axe and Paddle, go book it, you wont' regret it :)

Having just taken home my first ever self made paddle I couldn't be happier. Not only will you leave with an awesome creation but you'll be able to learn some skills and absorb some knowledge from Steve. Not only is he great a teacher and a fountain of knowledge, he's also just an awesome guy with a passion for his craft that's completely infectious. You won't regret it.

Hand made in Britain, by Steve, in our Brighton workshop - our 12oz canvas Canoe Packs make fantastic gifts and can be ready in time for Christmas! They are water, fire and rot resistant, made with leather, solid cast brass buckles and copper riveted for extra strength. To be used with the backpack straps or shoulder strap, which doubles as a 'tump line', to help distribute the weight. They're spacious, at 24" square, with flat internal pocket on the front and they feature our distinctive logo in print, and embossed on the leather straps. Treat yourself or someone special to a solid piece of kit which can be handed down through generations, with our lifetime structural guarantee.
Hand made antler fire steel, with 80x8mm ferrocium rod and antler tip handle with buckskin lanyard. Produces a very hot spark when struck with steel (knife or striker), even when wet. Excellent lightweight kit to take camping. A musta have for spending time outdoors!
